Being kind matters in more ways than one

Merry Christmas & Happy New Year Lovelies, have you ever wondered why you should be kind to people? There are a myriad of reasons, but I am sure while growing up in this big world someone may have taught you that kindness is the best thing you can do for yourself and for everyone else.

It's hard not to notice when people aren't kind to one another, you may remember the times that someone cut you off on the expressway, or jumped in front of you in line, or didn't say 'hello', when you said it first.

Don't let that get you down, not only because it's Christmas time...the best  time of the year to believe in love, kindness, and miracles. We are always supposed to be kind to one another, but sometimes this gets lost in translation, because of the many challenges, or attitudes of others we allow our own attitudes to reflect those of others. People may not remember what you said, but will always remember how  you treated them. The way you treat someone else says a lot about your characteristics as a person. Are you selfish, disrespectful, narcissistic,  pretentious, or uncaring? If these are your major characteristics,  you  can  change these over time. These toxic personalities, can be changed with great effort.

If you allow yourself to be kind to others you can free yourself from other negative emotions like sadness, depression, resentment, or even jealousy. As a parent you can teach your children about kindness from an early age. To make sure that the lessons you teach your children resonates with them, keep leading by example. Practice makes perfect, being kind to others starts with an ability to take ourselves out of the picture, it also comes from a desire to be completely focused on making someone else happy, other than ourselves.

As a New Year goal for yourself, take time to reverse the way you're feeling. If out of practice, take Mr. Scrooge's character, in the movie, 'Miracle on 34 th Street'. He alienated everyone until he realized, he had to change  his attitude towards people, behaviors,  and when he started believing in kindness his whole world became better.

Christmas is a wonderful time to decide and reflect on the past year, creating a new pathway towards a new sense of self.
